  JMC hosted our annual company outing at a new location this year! About 300 JMC employees gathered together at Ryan’s Family Amusement in Hanover, MA last week. The day was full of activities, trivia, prizes, service awards, and making connections with fellow employees. The day was also 80s era themed so everyone dressed in fun neon, band t-shirts, and track suits to celebrate the day!   Ryan’s Family Amusement had a great variety of activities for everyone to try with bowling, arcade games, laser tag, and axe throwing! Our staff had a blast teaming up together for the chance to win a prize. We had numerous contributions for over 20 raffle prizes this year thanks to many sponsors that supported us this year with special shoutouts to Apartments.com, ApartmentList, Carpet King, Digible, RealPage, Rent Dynamics, SafeRent, Two Dots, Yardi, and Zillow. 43 members from JMC attended the annual MAA Expo event at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston this week. This is MAA's largest event of the year and is open to all  job levels making the day impactful for everyone who attends.  The morning began with networking which led to the kickoff keynote speaker, Bozoma Saint John, who was the former CMO at Netflix and Endeavor, CBO at Uber, and Marketing Executive at Apple Music and PepsiCo and was named Forbes' "#1 Most Influential CMO".  After the first keynote, the tradeshow floor opened up with over 160 booths for everyone to explore new vendors and reconnect with existing vendors. The afternoon followed with lunch and smaller breakout sessions. There were 7 different breakout sessions for everyone to learn about new trends and insights in the industry. JMC held the annual Spring Managers Meeting in Quincy, MA that had a large focus on curb appeal at our communities as we prepare for the upcoming summer season. JMC takes great pride not only in the physical curb appeal of our properties with our meticulous landscaping, but also in digital curb appeal by constantly updating our websites and social media pages.   Gary Saltmarsh, Director of Maintenance Operations, started off the morning by speaking about spring clean ups as we prepare for spring flowers and landscaping plans for the summer months. The Marketing Department kicked off 2025 with a meeting at Kowloon restaurant last week for over 100 managers and leasing office staff all across the portfolio. The meeting covered a variety of topics and provided best practices for a number of marketing tools and platforms.  Andrea covered topics in leasing and sales with a strong focus on phone skills and shop reports. She also gave examples of recorded phone calls for everyone to critique together which was very beneficial. The Marketing team also put together a leasing skills quiz on Kahoot with leasing training questions and the winner received a gift card. Sebastian discussed Customer Relationship Management performance and best practices for lead management which was a great refresher for everyone and useful for new hires to learn more about the platform.  Grace went over utilizing ChatGPT as a writing tool to assist in email responses.
