MetroMark, Jamaica Plain's newest Apartment Community couldn't be more excited to make its debut this summer as well. Progress is Happening at MetroMark!

Image
We finally got a taste this morning of the much anticipated (and hated) New England winter weather. Despite the temperatures dropping down into the low 20’s, and with an early Tuesday snowstorm on the horizon, construction is going full-steam ahead at 3611 Washington Street in Jamaica Plain, the future home of 283 luxury-apartments known as MetroMark. For the past few months construction crews have been busy putting together the framework and foundation of the community’s two buildings. Upon completion, MetroMark will feature luxury finishes, high-end amenities, and just like the fellow 02130 community, an artistic flare and cultural connection. If you’ve driven by Forest Hills recently or taken the “T” you may have noticed some new changes to the area. The famed “Casey Overpass” has been torn down, and brings new light (literally) to the Forest Hills section of Jamaica Plain. The Arborway/Washington Street intersection will continue to undergo construction for the next...

Only two days remain in what has been one of the most stressful, difficult, and challenging months we’ve ever seen when it comes to dealing with Mother Nature. The total winter snow accumulation has passed the 100” threshold, something that has only been seen once before in recorded history! From the rural towns outside of 495 to the “parking war-zone” on the streets of South Boston, we’ve all been affected by the snow’s overwhelming reach. At Corcoran communities all throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, and New Hampshire, dedicated maintenance staff members have been busy around the clock dealing with insane amounts of snow, ice dams, dangerous black ice, and walkway clearing. Whether it’s a small community of 60 apartments, or a larger community with over 500 residences, it takes around-the-clock hard work and dedication to clear out the amounts of snow that we have seen in the last month. On behalf of all the residents, employees, and partners of Corcoran Ma...

Staying Safe During the Blizzard of 2015

Image
image via: www.theconservativetreehouse.com Like Cape Cod in the summer, and apple picking in the fall, a blizzard-esque storm in New England is a yearly tradition. This year is no joke either, the so-called “Blizzard of 2015” is expected to begin tonight at roughly 7:00PM and continue until 1:00AM on Wednesday. Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency is calling for all drivers to be off the road tonight and considering overnight driving as “life threatening”. Counties throughout Eastern Massachusetts can expect anywhere from 20 – 30” and possibly even more in total accumulation. South Shore and Cape Cod residents will also have to deal with extremely high and dangerous winds that could see gusts up to 65 MPH. We wanted to provide a simple checklist for how you can be prepared for the storm this year. Below are some of the suggestions from the American Red Cross on how you and your family can prepare for a storm that could last for a couple days: Water : provide yourself with...

Partnering to End Homelessness with Caritas Communities!

Image
For nearly 30 years, John M. Corcoran & Corcoran Management Company have been a driving force in working to end homelessness and to provide stable and affordable housing for those who are less fortunate. CMC is proud to be a leading partner and sponsor of Caritas Communities , a non-profit organization that owns and manages 29 residential properties and homes throughout the Greater Boston area that offer a place for those struggling with homelessness to be able to call home. On Thursday November 13 th , Caritas held its annual end of the year fundraiser dinner and gala at the Sheraton Boston. As is the case with many non-profits today, Caritas faces challenges when it comes to fundraising and meeting the growing demand of those in need of emergency assistance. Last night’s dinner, like years past, was a tremendous success in raising money to provide shelter, food, educational programs, clothing, and much more for those in need. Each year, at least two individuals whose...
